The door type of your baler – does it really matter?
2 june, 2020
Is it worth while to consider the door type when you buy a baler? What types of doors are available on the market and what are the differences between them? Learn about the benefits of each baler door type in this article.
Different door options – necessity or only convenience?
The selection of a baler suitable for your company is not easy – it requires consideration of various features of the machine. It is obvious that you check what type of waste can be compacted, how much waste at the same time or how much energy it takes. Therefore, at first glance, it may seem unnecessary to think about the type of baler door. And if you do consider this issue, you may think that this is only a question of convenience. Are you sure? Not necessarily.
When selecting balers for waste, various aspects should be verified, including construction and used technologies. Not only the comfort of use, but also the usability and functionality of the machine depends on these. The type of the baler door significantly affects the comfort and efficiency of the machine - especially when used in a small space.
Decipher the abbreviations - which door types are available?
Balers can be equipped with a standard door. The majority of our machines have such a door. But balers can also have special doors. In our product programme they are marked with these abbreviations: SD, VD, FD or AD. It's time to decipher the abbreviations!
VD (Vertical Door)
A vertical door takes up little space and facilitates loading from both sides. This type of door is used for the following models: B5 Wide VD, B20 VD and B30 VD.
FD (Flap Door)
The flap door acts as a funnel - it facilitates easy flow of waste into the baler chamber.
The following balers can also be produced with a flap door: X25, X25 Galvanized, X30, X30 Galvanized, X50, X50 Galvanized, PC24 HD (novelty)
SD (Semi-Automatic Door)
The SD-door is always open, which makes it easy to throw waste into the chamber at any time. The Semi-Automatic door is used for the following models: B30 Wide SD, B50 SD and B50 XL SD.
AD (Automatic Door)
The AD-door automatically closes and reopens after each cycle. This type of door is used for the following models: X25 AD, X30 AD, and X50 AD.
Standard Door
The majority of our balers are equipped with standard doors, which open to the left. The obvious advantage of this type of door is easy and intuitive handling. This solution is ideal for standard spaces where it is not necessary to optimize the space being used.
If you are looking for other solutions that are both practical and modern – check the AD automatic door, FD flap door, VD vertical door and SD semi-automatic door.
Vertical Door (VD)
This design facilitates the loading of waste from both sides of the baler, as well as reduces the space required to operate the machine. The door is closed and opened by the operator manually. You open the door manually, using the handle and close it in the same way after loading your waste.
This type of door is worth considering if the baler will be placed in a narrow space or near the busy passage.
The vertical door can be chosen as an option when buying models like: B5 Wide, B20, and B30 balers.

Semi-automatic Door (SD)
SD Semi-Automatic Door requires the operator to manually close the machine downwards, but the door opens automatically when the press cycle is finished.
In this way, the door stays open, which makes it easy to fill waste into the chamber at any time.
The SD sliding door can be chosen as an option when buying models like B30 Wide, B50 (novelty), and B50 XL (novelty).

Automatic Door (AD)
Automatic doors in balers ensure the highest possible efficiency and comfort of work of the operator during waste loading. They stay open by default, thus guaranteeing easy and quick loading, and the door closes after pressing the button that starts the press cycle.
After compaction is completed, the door opens again, allowing the next waste to be loaded.
This type of door is specially developed as an option for these baler models: X25 and X30.

Flap Door (FD)
The flap door is a perfect solution which not only reduces the space occupied by the machine, but also significantly facilitates placing waste in the chamber. The flap door is ideal for compaction of small and loose waste, such as PET bottles, preventing them from spilling during loading, as well as after opening the chamber door.
The flap door is opened and closed manually using a small handle in the middle of the door.
Balers which can be produced with a FD flap door are: X25, X30, X50, while the models PC24 HD Galvanized and the yellow version PC24 HD have the flap door as standard.
